Hong Kong!!!!!

Greetings from Hong Kong, a country full of vibrancy, food and lots and lots of shopping. This is my 5th day in HK and I've finally decided to write the whole exchange on a blog so that I can remember every little details as I grow older.. Here goes,

27th August 2005

Went to the airport early with my family with the intention to check in my stuff but apparently, the check-in was 2 hours before departure. Hence we went to the food court to have a nice lunch and we took family photos at the airport. =)

My baggage was 11kg excess because my dad wants me to bring coffee powder, and lots of local food to HK for my relatives. Hence, I relectuantly paid $40 plus just for the excess food. Anyway, Shufang, Ben, Cheryl and my sister Serah came and sent me off at the airport. It was real sweet of them to come and they got me a Cantonese language book ( I cant speak yet ) and Serah wrote me a nice card. =)))) Well, we chat at the airport for around an hour before I went in. Kinda miss all of them now because these are the few closest friends I have in Uni.

The flight was 3 and a half hours and I got nothing to do.. spent my time listening to samba music, reading christian books and of course, sleep..Reached HK at around 8pm and all boy, no one was there to pick me up. My relatives were all waiting for me at home. Found my own way to Mei Foo and its kinda nice actually to find your own way. You can actually feel a sense of satisfaction. =)

28th August 2005

Woke up early and went to Sha Tin with my 6th uncle. The reason I went there was because I've got to pay respect to my late grandfather. Bought some flowers along the way and placed it at his tablet. After that, I climbed up a flight of stairs (really really long), up into the mountain and into the 10000 Buddhas Temple. There is a super nice view up from the mountain and had a nice cold bean curb milk before going down.

Met Sheena and Esther at Hyatt Hotel, Tsim Sha Tsui at night. Apparently they had a little problem with their lodging at campus, and so they both bunk in together with Sheena's parents. Its nice to see Sporeans again and we went out to shop for accessories.

29th August 2005

Went to school in the morning to settle all my admin matters. Then went to Mong Kok with Sheena, Esther, Janice and Rubee. We had our first taste of the HK crowd and then we settled for a decent meal at one of the shops.

30th August 2005

Woke up early in the morning to accompany my grandma for morning walk. Here in HK, I got to walk up early everyday to take morning walk or run because my relatives want me to jian fei.. all man!!! which means that I cant have long sleep anymore..

Went to school in the afternoon and met Sheena, Esther, Rubee and Janice. =))).. Settled our academic stuff again and then we went out to the Avenue of Stars at night with Sheena and Esther. =) It was nice to see HK island from Kowloon and we stayed till 8pm to see the Light presentation across the sea. I thought that the display was kinda boring unless you go dwn with ur love. There were many love birds around and its the only good reason to go dwn if u wan to hug ur gf/bg. I felt that spore whould have more romantic places. Hk really got lots of romantic areas to date a woman. =)

Then I accompanied the 2 girls to shop...

31st August 2005

Finally got to sleep till 10am...=))) Went to school again for the welcome lunch for exchange students. It was nice to see so many of them from all over the world and I really enjoyed changing culture and words with them.

Then I went out with the 4 girls to HK island. We went to Lan Kwai Fong to look for Rubee's friend. He is apparently working as a part time at an ice cream shop. We chilled till 5pm and then we took an electric tram to Causeway Bay. There, I bought my first item in this trip. An Esprit leather bag which cost less than S$30. It was surely a good buy and I got the privilege of 4 girls to shop with me.
